Denver, CO’s Native Daughters have an instrumental sound that packs many of the body blows of heavy, riff-based post-metal. It also draws melodies and rhythmic tension from the cream of the mid-90s emo/post-punk crop. There are a few of the twinkly guitar leads and crushing breakdowns which are hallmarks of these divergent styles. Equal parts blunt force trauma and tension, you won’t know what hit you, but you’ll be glad that it did.
