Please welcome another fresh addition to the SLN roster, New Standards Men! Imagine reading Naomi Klein’s Shock Doctrine during a solar flare. That’s basically the deal with New Standards Men. Drew Bissell and Jeremy Brashaw are the two constants of the Denver, CO psychedelic noise rock combo. Today is the release date for not one, but two recordings we’re excited to be a part of. Originally released in April of 2020, New Standards Men’s latest LP, “I Was A Starship”, is now on its second vinyl pressing with our help. To add some flair (flare??) to the momentous occasion, a two-part improvised companion composition recorded during those same album sessions, “Spain’s First Astronaut”, is being released for the first time on cassette today as well. Standard editions of “I Was A Starship” (IWAS) are available on black vinyl with a download and “Spain’s First Astronaut” (SFA) are available on black cassette with a download too. There are some cool package deals where savvy consumers can acquire both recordings in limited variants that include bonus cover inserts for “I Was A Starship” as well as “Spain’s First Astronaut” on dark pink or cobalt blue cassette. You can also grab digital-only versions if that’s your preference.
