Hype: Charlie Continental has just released a new 7" single, “Snow & Rain b/w Untethered”. The two songs are about love, loss, grief and uncertainty. Charlie lost his wife Febra in 2024 and these songs are about that journey from then to now. An old bandmate of his once said he writes the catchiest sad songs. Sometimes sadness leads to creativity and catharsis. Some listeners may hear them as pop songs, but other listeners may find comfort in them to help with their own difficult paths. If so, that’s a bonus that Chuck and Feb are glad to offer. The “Snow & Rain b/w Untethered” 7" is available in two different sleeve variations and is also available digitally. Hype: SLN team captains Hooper are hitting us with a killer set of new tunes. For their newest EP, “Carry Your Own Saints”, they submitted themselves to the guidance of J Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines) in his iconic studio, The Magpie Cage in Baltimore, Maryland. The record is a suite of biographical songs focusing on figures as wide ranging as Polish scientist Marie Curie, and American author Jack Kerouac. Each song probes a different icon in search of mythologies worth believing in. The songs crackle with a newfound urgency that comes with deadlines, and the band gains an added heft and precision with Mr. Robbins’ firecracker production. It's Hooper’s most fully realized set of songs to date. "Carry Your Own Saints" is available on 12” vinyl and as a digital extended player. Pre-orders are up now in our usual spots ahead of the June 2 release date. The lead single, ‘92U’, premiered today (April 28th) over at Punk Rock Theory and you can also jam the song on our bandcamp sampler or on all the various streaming platforms. Long live the Hoop!

This is another special addition to the SLN lineup, as Dismiss joins us with an album that has been 30 years in the making. That album is called "Lost Transmissions: 1995-1996". Dismiss (Peoria, IL) was the precursor to the much loved and singularly transcendent Planes Mistaken For Stars (Denver, CO/Chicago, IL). "Lost Transmissions: 1995-1996" contains previously unreleased demo recordings featuring Gared O'Donnell, Matt Bellinger, Jamie Drier and Mike Johnson. The album is available on 12” vinyl and as a digital long player. Pre-orders are up now in the usual places. It's a co-release with our buds Rad Girlfriend Records too.
