Today is release day for the Cheap Perfume "Blood On Your Hands" FANGIRL #3 Zine + Flexi Disc 7" Combo. Loyal followers likely know the deal, but FANGIRL Issue #3 features long-running SLN hitmakers, Cheap Perfume (as alluded to in the above release title). There are interviews, photos, factoids and more that CP fans old and new will dig. The included red translucent 7” flexi disc features Cheap Perfume performing the song ‘Blood On Your Hands’ (again, that release title is a bit of a giveaway), which is jam-packed full of the snarl and immediacy that is CP’s sonic signature. You can grab a zine/flexi combo (with song download!) from our WEB STORE and/our BANDCAMP. Both sites also feature a digital single version of ‘Blood On Your Hands’ if you just want the song without any physical attachment to this mortal coil. The aforementioned digital single is exclusive to FANGIRL and their collaborative partners, like us! No streamies on the spotitube, but the zine/flexi combo can be found at choice retail establishments along Colorado’s front range. Today is another lovely release day for those hardcore dorks called SPELLS... "Loose Change, Vol. 2" is out now on both vinyl and digital formats! Loyal followers will recall that “LCV2” is the second collection album from SPELLS that contains material that has gone out of print or was only released digitally. Many of the expertly remastered tunes on "Loose Change, Vol. 2" are gracing vinyl for the very first time. “LCV2” is available as a 12” LP on either "Dolphin" crystal clear/solid blue vinyl or "Dracula" transparent red/black vinyl. Both colors come with a free digital download of course. The album can also be obtained on the standalone digital long player format. No matter what your format preference is, the album can be found in our WEBSTORE and on our BANDCAMP. ICYMI, this latest SPELLS platter is a co-release with several other fantastic labels in addition to SLN: Motorcycle Potluck Records (USA), Big Neck Records (USA), Keep It A Secret Records (Germany) and Shield Recordings (The Netherlands). Naturally, this record is distributed by our pals at Recess Ops and will soon be found at a variety of ace record shops in the greater Denver Metro area. Salutations music lovers! We've added a brand new member to the SLN family tree- Sarah Shannon! If Sarah seems familiar, here's where you may know her from... She was the lead singer of legendary 90's Washington, DC indie rock band, Velocity Girl. Sarah then sang in the short-lived band Starry Eyes that also featured her Velocity Girl bandmate and future Foxhall Stacks (SLN alumni!) guitarist, Jim Spellman. A solo career followed in the 00's that included a relocation to Seattle, WA. After that, Sarah co-founded the popular kindie rock band, The Not-Its! that are still active. That brings us to right now. This is not the usual addition to the SLN lineup, as Sarah joins us with a record that has been 25 years in the making- the "Demo 98" EP. Sarah Shannon’s “Demo 98” EP contains previously unreleased recording sessions that occurred shortly after the breakup of Velocity Girl. Recorded at WGNS Studios in 1998, the recordings also feature Geoff Turner (Gray Matter, Three) and Adam Wade (Jawbox, Shudder To Think). The songs reflected on Velocity Girl while at the same time looked forward to a hopeful future. As is often the case, life has a way of intervening and the tapes got buried on a shelf for 20+ years. Geoff rediscovered them not too long ago and all three players were thrilled at how good they still sounded. They decided the songs should finally see the light of day and now here we are with a proper release, 25 years later. Pre-orders for "Demo 98" are up right now in our WEBSTORE as well as on our BANDCAMP. You can choose between a 12" EP on classic black vinyl (with download) or go for the digital-only extended player. The lead single, 'Wheel In A Wheel', will come as an immediate download with any pre-orders of the EP. 'Wheel In A Wheel' was just premiered over at ace music blog, A Pessimist Is Never Disappointed, along with an early review of "Demo 98". You can also head over to our bandcamp sampler to have a listen to the single. We’re releasing "Demo 98" with Minty Fresh Records, who previously worked with Sarah on one of her solo albums. We are thrilled to have Sarah Shannon, along with Adam Wade and Geoff Turner, join the SLN roster. We never would have thought in a million years, let alone 25, that we'd get to be a part of a record like "Demo 98"!

Hello out there! We're excited to share that we have a fresh addition to our stellar roster- The Ape-ettes! Emerging from the depths of Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, The Ape-ettes are a garage-pop trio comprised of long-time friends: Andrée on bass, Melanie on drums and Julie on guitar and vocals. These girls have the gift of pumping out infectious tunes with their spirited less-is-more approach. The Ape-ettes will be releasing a brand new 7"/Digital Extended Player entitled "Simply" on July 13. The cover art reads as "Simply The Ape-ettes", but there's nothing too simple about how hard the 4 tracks rip. Pre-orders are up right now in our WEBSTORE as well as on our BANDCAMP. You can choose between clear w/ red & blue splatter vinyl or sky blue vinyl! We’re excited to be releasing this in conjunction with Reta Records, a one-woman DIY record label based out of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. If you're new to the FANGIRL zine, here's the scoop: FANGIRL is Colorado’s niftiest fan-zine. Each issue features one Colorado band, selected by the editorial staff. There’s a wealth of band info, record reviews and a unique multi-part interview. As a bonus, each issue comes with a 7” flexi disc with music by the featured band. How cool is all of that?!... It’s FANGIRL cool!! Issue #3, printed by View Shed Studio, is all about longtime SLN family members Cheap Perfume. The flexi disc/digital single features the band performing the brand new song, 'Blood On Your Hands'. The Cheap Perfume "Blood On Your Hands" FANGIRL #3 Zine + Flexi Disc 7" Combo is now available for pre-order via our WEB STORE as well as our BANDCAMP. ‘Blood On Your Hands’, which is catalogued as SLN-238, will also be available as a standalone digital single (hint: zine pre-orders get the single right away).
